Four weeks in Madrid rendered a meagre selection of fashion-blog worthy pics of young people, but a heep of oos and aws over the old. In Madrid, being old it hot. And turning seventy doesn't seem to entail the end of style, or the beginning of sensible footwear. On the contrary, we've never before seen as many stylish 70+ers towering on high heels while strapped into elegant outfits. These well-seasoned Madrilenos are aging gracefully and stylishy, and they're putting the young, casual generation to shame.
Beyond being stylish, the oldies are also showing up the youngens when it comes to love. Everywhere you turn there is a white-haired duo clasping hands and exchanging cooing words. The divorce rate in Spain may be rising rapidly (just like in the rest of the world), but it isn't effecting those that have truly weathered through decades of companionship. Enjoy a glimpse of these loving, fashionable oldies. They're guaranteed to make you smile. See? I know you're smiling.
